SL Council Approves Preliminary Plat For Duplexes

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake city council Tuesday approved a Planning and Zoning Commission recommendation approving a preliminary plat for a development proposed by Danny DeWall. It’s to be built on the same site where another developer had proposed building vacation rental townhouses…a project that wound being scrapped after running into heavy opposition from neighbors.

DeWall plans to build six duplexes on the site. He’s requesting the city enter into a developer’s agreement to help extend infrastructure to the site, saying the project will bring a substantial increase to the city’s property tax base. The council took no action on DeWall’s request. They directed him to put together some cost estimates and report back.

The council also set July 13th as the date for a public hearing to rezone the land for the project.
