(Spirit Lake)– Supporters of the Bedell Family YMCA that’s under construction just south of Spirit Lake are once again seeking funding from Vision Iowa’s Community Attractions and Tourism, or CAT Program.
Leo Kofoot of Spirit Lake tells KUOO news he and a delegation of 15 community members attended a meeting of the CAT Committee on Wednesday of this week. Kofoot says they got a warm reception and commission members listened intently to their request for 1.1 million dollars.
Kofoot says the committee took no action on the request and gave no timeframe as to when they would make a final determination on the request.
Meanwhile, Kofoot says construction on the new YMCA continues to make good progress, and remains on track for completion this coming December 15th.
