(Johnston)– A special honor for a Spirit Lake teen.
Forrest Saunders was elected Governor at last week’s Boy’s State held at Camp Dodge in Johnston.
Saunders was elected out of some 700 young men from throughout Iowa that participated in this year’s event.
Boy’s State is sponsored each year by the American Legion. It gives participants a hands-on experience on how democratic government operates on the city, county and state levels.
Young men are selected for participation in Boy’s State by their school and members of their local American Legion posts.
