(Ringsted)– Another area of northwest Iowa not previously able to get it can now pick up the National Weather Service’s weather radio signal.
A new National Weather Service weather radio translator went on the air June 8th. It’s on a tower located near Ringsted in southeastern Emmet county. The new system provides coverage to Emmet, Palo Alto, Kossuth, Humboldt, Hancock and Winnebago counties in Iowa and Faribault and Martin counties in Minnesota.
The new translator operates on the frequency of 162.475 Mhz.
A ceremony to dedicate the new translator will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 8th at the Ringsted Community Hall in Ringsted. Community leaders, Emergency Management Coordinators, representatives from the Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and the National Weather Service will be on hand.
