Dickinson Supervisors To Hold Another Bid Letting On Utility Building

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors later this week will hold a second bid letting on a project to construct a 30-by-40 foot utility building behind the former Baptist Church on Ithaca Avenue in Spirit Lake.

Only one firm submitted a bid at the original bed letting several weeks ago. It came in considerably over estimates. The supervisors at that time rejected the bid and decided to re-let the project, hoping to attract more bids and better prices this time around.

The building will house the county’s 911 communications equipment along with vehicles for the county road department and D-A-V van. The road department van is currently stored in a garage in the rear of the Engineer’s Building; the D-A-V van is stored in the former Radke gas station. Both buildings will eventually be torn down to make way for the courthouse project.

The supervisors have a special meeting planned for 10:00 a.m. Thursday at which time the second bid-letting will be held.
