(Spirit Lake)– The board of trustees of Lakes Regional Healthcare Monday adopted the hospital’s budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1st.
It estimates patient revenues of 36 million dollars; Medicare and other deductions total 14.2 million; operating expenses are set at 21.5 million…for a net income of a million dollars.
Trustees also adopted the hospital’s capital budget for the upcoming fiscal year. It includes 1.4 million dollars in adavancements to the hospital’s information technology system and 1.5 million in other improvements, such as a new ambulance; and upgrades to the hospital’s surgical equipment.
In other business, LRH trustees approved 28-thousand dollars in changeorders for the building project; approved a purchase proposal for a multi-slice C-T scanner for 918 thousand dollars which was included in the hospital’s capital purchase budget; and they authorized CEO Rich Kielman to sign off on leasing documents from Avera allowing for the expansion of Lakes Family Practice. The project has a total estimated cost of 500-thousand dollars, of which Avera will pay a portion. Construction is to start in late August or early September. Completion is slated for a year from now.
The expansion will take place to the northwest side of the existing area that houses Lakes Family Practice.
