Milford Council Approves TIF Proposals

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– The Milford city council Monday approved proposals to establish Tax Increment Finance Districts in the Nature Trails and Ponds at Hunter Hills Subdivisions. Each will be in effect for 15 years.

The council heard an update on Clean-Up Days. City Administrator Brian Reed reported it took 80 mah hours to haul away 25 tons of junk at 29.62 a ton. 42 white goods and 20 brown goods were disposed of.

The council held final readings and adopted two ordinances. One requires hard surfaces under dumpsters; the other raises sewer fees by 10 cents…from 80 cents per thousand gallsons to 90 cents. City officials say the additional revenue is needed for sewer mainenance projects.

The council voted to reimburse 104-thousand dollars to Farmer’s Savings Bank through the city’s Tax Increment Finance program for improvements made to 22nd Street; approved transferring the status of Police Chief Vernon Flack from probationary to permanent; approved salary adjustments for city staff…moving everyone up a step in the pay range…along with a 2.1 percent cost of living adjustment. Wages for parks employees will range between $7.00 and $8.50 per hour.

The council voted to reimburse 950-dollars to Virg Wahlman…developer of the Country Meadows Subdivision…for having a sewer televised. Turns out the sewer was blocked due to some cement that had been poured down a manhole and hardened. Wahlman turned over his duties as Mayor to Mayor Pro-tem Theresa Netsch during the discussion and vote.

The council set July 12th as the date for a public hearing on a propoal to lease a street to the Commercial Club for the annual Pioneer Days Street Dance.

The city has proposed the lease as a way to address liability concerns.

The council also approved the purchase of a new police car for 18,744-dollars…including trade.
