Spencer Woman Charged In Animal Neglect Case

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Charges have been filed against a Spencer woman in connection with an animal abuse case.

Clay County Sheriff Randy Krukow says his office received a report of animal neglect last Saturday at 3125 210th Avenue. Krukow says upon investigating, they determined a number of animals were either dead or dying. Some of the animals included cattle, horses and dogs.

Krukow says the Clay County Attorney’s Office was contacted along with a veterinarian. The animals still alive were transported to a place where they could receive proper care.

After further investigation, Krukow says an arrest warrant was issued Tuesday charging 43-year-old Glenda Rae Peters of Spencer with two counts of animal neglect…serious misdemeanors.

Deputies arrested Peters shortly before 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at 225 North Grand Avenue. She was taken to the Clay county jail where she’s being held on 3,800-dollars bond.

The Iowa State Patrol assisted in making the arrest.

Krukow says their investigation continues. He encourages anyone with additional information to contact his office at 262-3221.
