Dickinson Supervisors Hold Another Bid Letting On Utility Building Project

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The second time was the charm for Dickinson county supervisors in getting bids on a project to construct a utility building in connection with the courthouse project.

A previous bidletting on the same project earlier this month attracted only one bid, which was considerably over the estimate of 65,600-dollars. The supervisors rejected the bid and started the process over.

Six firms submitted bids at Thursday’s letting. The apparent low bid of 68,228-dollars, with three alternates figured in, was submitted by Apple Enterprise of Spirit Lake.

The supervisors tabled awarding the bid until their meeting this coming Tuesday. They want more time to review the three options and to determine whether or not any could be dropped from the project to lower the cost.

The utility building, which will house vehicles for the D-A-V and County Engineer’s Office, will also house the county’s 911 communications equipment. It will be built behind the former Baptist Church. It’s slated for completion this coming November 1st.
