Tractor Rollover Claims Life Of Rural Ashton Man

November 22, 2014

(Ashton)– A tractor roll-over accident Thursday has claimed the life of another northwest Iowa farmer.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says 64-year-old Marvin Strouth was mowing a ditch in front of his residence at 2267 Nest Avenue near Ashton when the tractor he was riding overturned, pinning Strouth underneath it.

The Ashton Fire Department, Ashton Ambulance, paramedics, Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies and the Ashton Elevator assisted in getting Strouth from under the tractor.

Strouth was taken to the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley where he was pronounced dead.

The mishap took place around 1:00 p.m.

It’s the second time in less than a week a tractor rollover accident has claimed a life in the area. 60-year-old Rick Zieman of rural Hartley was killed in a similar accident Wednesday evening.
