November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Negotiations were just recently concluded on a contract between Dickinson county and the union representing sheriff’s deputies, jailers and dispatchers for the fiscal year that started July 1st. Now, negotiations are already getting underway for the contract covering the 2005-2006 fiscal year.

Local 1639 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees presented its initial proposal to the county at Tuesday’s board of supervisors meeting. In addition to an increase in benefits, the union is also seeking a 13 percent across-the-board increase in wages.

The county will present its initial proposal at 11:00 a.m. July 20th.
