The Jackson woman accused of killing a Spirit Lake man has arrived at a plea bargain agreement that will mean at least 10 years behind bars. Jackson County Attorney Robert C. O’Connor announced yesterday that a plea agreement has been reached with 39 year old Suzanne McNulty, accused of the slaying of 34 year old Evin Berg.
McNulty, to avoid trial, has entered a guilty plea of Second Degree Unintentional Murder. The agreement calls for her to serve 15 years at the Minnesota Women’s Prison in Shakopee, and she will have to serve 10 years to be eligible for supervised release. She was also ordered to pay restitution to the victim’s family for expenses incurred because of the murder.
McNulty has been held in the Jackson County jail since being arrested November 14th of last year in the death of her former boyfriend. Bond was $500,000.00.
