(Des Moines)– The deadline for Iowans to apply for assistance for losses due to severe storms, tornadoes and flooding between May 19th and June 24th is less than a week away.
Officials with the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division say the deadline to apply for aid under President Bush’s disaster declaration is July 26th.
A variety of aid is available to individuals, families and businesses in 75 Iowa counties under FEMA’s Individual Assistance Program. Included are housing assistance grants for repairs and short-term rentals, low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration and other needs assistance grants.
Counties in our area that are eligible are Buena Vista, Clay, Kossuth, Palo Alto and Pocahontas.
