Afternoon Trailer Fire Leaves Milford Family Homeless

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– A Milford family is homeless after a fire heavily damaged their trailer house today (Thursday).

Fire Chief Don Eckard says Milford firefighters were called to Pioneer Trailer Court on Sixth Street around 12:15 p.m. Upon arriving, Eckard says the interior of the trailer was in flames.

Eckard says a babysitter and a five year-old were in the trailer at the time the blaze broke out. He says they managed to get out unharmed. Eckard says they went to a neighbor’s who was having a garage sale and called 911.

Eckard says the blaze started in a back bedroom where the child had apparently been playing with some matches.

The trailer house, owned by Ken and Joyce Ward, sustained extensive damage.

Firefighters were on the scene about 45 minutes.
