SL Woman Attends DNC

November 22, 2014

(Boston, Mass.)– A young Spirit Lake woman is in the thick of things at the Democratic National Convention in Boston.

Megan Henneke, a University of Iowa Political Science student, says she thinks young people like her are fired up about the Presidential race this year. Henneke says only about 60 people were expected at her college’s caucuses. Instead, 375 students showed up. She says that speaks loudly for how involved 18 and 19-year-olds will be involved in this year’s election…an age group that’s commonly overlooked in the process.

Henneke, who supported John Kerry in the Iowa Caucuses, this his selection of John Edwards as his running mate has fired up Democrats even more.

Henneke won’t get to campaign as much as she’d like for Kerry this fall; she’ll remain in Iowa City tending to her studies and working politics on the side.
