(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county courthouse project reaches a major milestone Tuesday (7/27).
2:00 p.m. is the deadline for contractors interested in building the new courthouse to submit bids. The sealed bids will then be transported by the Sheriff to the Dickinson County Expo Building where the supervisors will open them at 2:30 p.m. The supervisors will act on the bids at their regular meeting Tuesday, August 5th.
A groundbreaking ceremony is planned for a week later, Tuesday, August 12th at 3:00 p.m. on the courthouse square, on the east side of the courthouse. Peter Narey will be the Master of Ceremonies. Former Congressman Berkley Bedell will discuss the history of the courthouse.
There will be a number of events leading up to the 3:00 p.m. groundbreaking August 12th. They include a buffet luncheon at 12 Noon at the Expo Building along with a program titled “A Vision For The Future of Dickinson County and Northwest Iowa”.
