Federal Fugitive Arrested in Spencer

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A tip to police from an alert citizen has led to the arrest of a federal fugitive in Spencer.

Police arrested 26-year-old Brent Allen Barkhausen shortly before noon Wednesday at an apartment in the 1600 block of East 19th Street in Spencer.

Barkhausen is wanted out of Linn county for a parole violation on a charge of second degree burglary.

A citizen called Wednesday morning and expressed concern over a suspicious man living in a nearby apartment. The person also provided police with the man’s name–Brent Barkhausen.

Police conducted a warrant check and found he was wanted. There was also an advisory that Barkhausen was known to go armed and may be dangerous.

Police were able to gain entry to the apartment and immediately located Barkhausen behind the door. He was taken into custody without incident.

Barkhausen is being held in the Clay county jail on 15-thousand dollars cash bond.
