(Spirit Lake)– A portion of Spirit Lake was in the dark for a little while this (Fri.) morning as the result of a power outage.
Jan Bowles of the Spirit Lake Service Center for Alliant Energy tells KUOO news a fuse failed on a transformer at a substation on the city’s southwest side. It knocked out power to the city’s southwest side for a few minutes.
Bowles says crews switched to a different transformer to restore power.
She says an investigation is underway to try to determine what caused the fuse to blow. Bowles says the substation had just recently undergone a thorough inspection.
