Clay County Authorities Uncover Big Meth Operation

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Authorities in Clay county say they’ve discovered an extensive methamphetamine operation as the result of an investigation that’s been ongoing over the past couple of weeks or so.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 41-year-old Douglas James Eischeid of rural Spencer was arrested in Crawford county on Clay county warrants for domestic assault. Eischeid was transported to the Clay county jail where he was also charged with multiple narcotic violations.

On Monday, August 2nd, authorities responded to a report of a domestic assault at Eischeid’s residence about a half mile west of 240th Avenue on Clay county road B24. An investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at that location. It turned up multiple items related to the manufacture and consumption of methamphetamine and illegal transport and storage of anhydrous ammonia.

As the investigation continued, authorities from Guthrie and Green counties executed a search warrant in Bayard, Iowa at the home of Doug Eischeid’s parents, and a car. Several items related to methamphetamine labs were discovered on the property and in the vehicle.

A search warrant was then executed on a camper at Doug Eischeid’s residence. The camper is owned by another person, who as of now hasn’t been charged.

Doug Eischeid was charged with three counts of transporting or storing anhydrous ammonia in an unauthorized container; prohibited acts-possession of precursors…pseudoephedrine pills; prohibited acts-possession of precursors…lithium; possession of drug paraphernalia and domestic assault.

Eischeid is being held in the Clay county jail on bond of more than 49-thousand dollars.

Eischeid is also wanted in Emmet county on unrelated criminal charges.

Clay county authorities have seized for forefeiture Eischeid’s house and porch, a 1982 International camper, two trailers, a 1989 Ford pickup and 568-dollars in cash. Also seized for forefeiture was a 1997 Mercury owned by another person, who as of now hasn’t been charged. However, authorities say their investigation continues and more arrests are imminent.
