New HLP Middle & High School To Be Dedicated Saturday

November 22, 2014

(Lake Park)– Middle and High School students in the Harris-Lake Park School District will attend classes in a brand new building this fall.

Superintendent Tim Christensen says construction of the new Middle and High School was completed earlier this summer, and they’re ready to show it off to the community. He says they’ll be holding a dedication ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the new high school gym. It will be followed by tours of the new building.

Ground was broken on the project on April 11th, 2003. It took about 14 months to complete. Christensen says that was a little longer than expected, but he says everything worked out.

Christensen says crews have spent the past several weeks moving into the new building. He says it was no small undertaking as desks and equipment from the Harris building also had to be moved. But Christensen says the move has now been completed and they’ll be able to start classes in the new facility in a couple of weeks with no problems.

And, Christensen says, the project came in on budget.

Voters in the Harris-Lake Park School District approved a four million dollar bond issue for the project in the summer of 2002.
