(Milford)– Some local ham radio operators will commemorate a milestone with a special event this Saturday.
The Iowa Great Lakes Amateur Radio Club will observe its 50th anniversary Saturday (8/28) with a display from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. near Boji Bay on Highway 71 at the north edge of Milford.
Club President Eric Hinshaw of Arnolds Park says a wide variety of radios and antennas will be set up, and he says the public is cordially invited to stop by and take a look and ask questions. He says it will also be a great opportunity for anyone interested in getting involved in the hobby.
The Iowa Great Lakes Amateur Radio Club has received national publicity for their 50th anniversary and Hinshaw says they expect contacts from hundreds of ham radio operators all over the world Saturday.
Paul Hedberg of Spirit Lake, another club member, says that’s why they’re holding the event for 12 hours…as the times for the best propagation for radio signals varies from one region of the world to another.
