(Spirit Lake)– The city of Spirit Lake once again has a Parks and Recreation Committee.
The body was scrapped several years ago for a variety of reasons.
The city council decided recently it wants to resurrect the committee as the city looks at the possibility of hiring a full-time Recreation Director, and with the ongoing improvements and maintenance of city parks and little league fields.
The city council voted five-to-nothing Tuesday to waive the first two considerations and adopted an ordinance that officially re-establishes the five-person Parks and Recreation Committee.
The ordinance states that committee members are to be appointed by the Mayor with council approval. Members will serve two-year terms, with appointments being made in such a manner to stagger the terms, so no more than three members will expire in any one year.
