(Spirit Lake)– One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident Sunday on Highways nine and 71 in Spirit Lake.
Police say 71-year-old Ronald Claussen of Spirit Lake was eastbound on the inside lane of the highway and had slowed to turn left onto Jackson Avenue when he was struck in the rear by a vehicle driven by 34-year-old Kelby Woodard of New Prague, Minnesota.
Claussen was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with unknown injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
1,500-dollars in damage was estimated to a 1978 Ford LTD driven by Claussen with 500-dollars in damage estimated to a 2000 Ford Excursion driven by Woodard.
The mishap took place shortly after 1:00 p.m. at the intersection of Highways nine and 71 and Jackson Avenue.
Spirit Lake police were assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
