(Okoboji)– Meeting in special session Tuesday, the Okoboji city council approved a recommendation from the city’s Design Review Committee for a new real estate office and living quarters being constructed by Mike Hoeppner south of the Stone House near the East Oaks Mall.
The council also set September 14th at 2:00 p.m. for a bid letting on the construction of a new building housing the city’s maintenance, police and fire departments. A public hearing will be held as part of the council’s regular meeting at 6:00 that evening, at which time they’ll take formal action on the bid.
The council Tuesday reviewed an estimate from Beck Engineering in the amount of 142-thousand dollars for grading and utilities improvements to the site of the new facility.
The building is to be constructed on land obtained from Mau Marine on Depot Avenue west of Tweeter’s as the result of a land swap. City Administrator Dennis Daly told the council paperwork finalizing the land deal was signed Tuesday.
Construction of the new building is to get underway next spring.
