Milford Firefighters Battle Garage, House Fires

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– The last couple of days have been busy for Milford firefighters.

Firefighters were called to a report of a garage fire Sunday at a residence on Joy Loy Lane in Wahpeton. Chief Don Eckard says the fire started in an electrical panel and burned a hole in a wall above it. Damage was contained to that area of the garage. Firefighters were on the scene about a half-hour. No injuries were reported.

Eckard says firefighters were called around 4:00 p.m. Monday to a house fire at 907 Okoboji Avenue in Milford. He says the living room area was engulfed when firefighters arrived. Eckard says most of the fire was contained to the living room area, but the entire house sustained heat and smoke damage. He says the occupants, who were home at the time, managed to get out unharmed.

Eckard says the fire was of accidental origin, caused by a child.

Milford firefighters were on the scene about an hour and-a-half Monday.
