(Broadus, Montana)– Authorities in Montana have arrested three felony fugitives wanted in Clay county.
22-year-old Bobby Neil Beckman, 43-year-old LeAnn Beckman and 18-year-old Aaron Lee Beckman…all of Spencer…were taken into custody Monday afternoon by the Powder River County Sheriff’s Office in Broadus, Montana.
Bobby Beckman was being held in the Clay county jail on multiple felony charges of third degree sex abuse. Beckman petitioned the district court for a two-day furlough to help his wife LeAnn move from their residence. The state granted Beckman the furlough, from 10:00 a.m. Friday to 10:00 a.m. Sunday. When Beckman failed to return to jail on Sunday an arrest warrant was issued.
Soon thereafter, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office was notified by authorities in North Dakota that Beckman, his wife LeAnn, and his step-son Aaron Beckman were denied entrance into Manitoba, Canada Saturday afternoon. The Beckman’s were not detained, and their where-abouts weren’t known at the time.
The Beckman’s were finally arrested in Montana Monday afternoon. Bob Beckman is charged with escape or absence from custody…a class “D” felony. Both LeAnn and Aaron Beckman are charged with aiding and abetting escape…a class “D” felony.
Extradition proceedings will begin immediately to bring the Beckman’s back to Spencer. If they do not waive extradition, the state of Iowa will seek a Governor’s warrant, ordering extradition back to Iowa.
