Spencer Council Okays Golf Course Development

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– The Spencer City Council has given its blessing to a new housing complex that will be built adjacent to the Spencer Municipal Golf Course.

At their meeting Tuesday, the council voted unanimously to approve a housing development agreement with August and Reed Scheppman of Metro Ventures, Incorporated of Spirit Lake. The plan calls for 61 new single family housing units on nearly 13 acres of land on the southwest corner of the golf course.

The new subdivision will be called “Stonybrook Country Club Estates” and will include things such as a clubhouse, tennis court and swimming pool. The street and utilities in the subdivision will be privately owned. And the land would not be sub-divided into separate lots, but would be jointly owned by all homeowners in the complex.

The price on the 12.8 acres of land is 50-thousand dollars, with a closing date of September 1st, 2005. The development will be constructed in three phases, with the first one to be completed by October 15th, 2006 which will include the club house and swimming pool.
