(Undated)– A lack of contested races resulted in a lack of voters turning out for Tuesday’s school board elections in Dickinson county. Only one district had contested races–that was Terril where there were races for two upcoming vacancies. Unofficial results show Amy Woodruff was the winner of a vacancy coming up in September, 2005…defeating Teri Moyer by only three votes. Craig Von Ehwegen won the other vacancy coming up in September, 2006, defeating Deborah Powell 58 to 21 votes. Races in the Spirit Lake, Okoboji and Harris-Lake Park districts were uncontested.
In Emmet county, three people were running for two open seats for the director-at-large seat. The winners were Nancy Anderson and Dale McDonough.
In Clay county, Randy Van Dyke held off a challenge from Thomas Sierck to win re-election to his seat. And in the Clay Central-Everly district, Sue Brugman won out over Mark Fahnlander.
The Iowa Lakes Community College Equipment Levy that was on the ballot was approved in Clay, Dickinson and Emmet counties. There were no immediate results on that from Kossuth and Palo Alto counties.
