Clay County Wreck Sends Five To The Hospital

November 22, 2014

(Everly)– A two-vehicle collision west of Everly Thursday sent five people to the hospital.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says the mishap took place just after 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 18 and County Road M-27.

A 1990 Ford Probe, driven by 43-year-old Jody Wee of Spirit Lake, was northbound on M-27. Authorities say Wee failed to yield from a stop sign and pulled into the path of a westbound vehicle on Highway 18. That vehicle, driven by 79-year-old Elsie Fick of Boyden, struck the passenger side of the vehicle Wee was driving.

Wee and two passengers, 43-year-old Linda Evans and Tylor Evans, along with Elsie Fick and her passenger, 79-year-old Alfred Fick, were all taken to Spencer Hospital with multiple injuries. All five were treated and released.

Wee was charged with failure to yield upon entering a roadway.

The Iowa State Patrol assisted at the scene.
