Search Warrants Lead To Drug Charges Against Two E’Burg Men

November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– A search for an assault rifle at an Emmetsburg residence by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office and Emmetsburg Police has resulted in drug charges against two men.

Sheriff Russ Jergens says authorities were executing a search warrant Thursday at 101 Madison Street in Emmetsburg, looking for an AR 15 assault rifle. While doing that, authorities say they discovered a large amount of controlled substances in a bedroom. The search was halted while a second search was obtained for controlled substances. Officers wound up seizing about 25 pounds of marijuana with a street value of about 45-thousand dollars.

Jergens says the occupants of the residence, Aaron Goeders and Todd Brown…both 27…were arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance…a class “D” felony; a drug tax stamp violation…also a class “D” felony; sponsoring a gathering where a controlled substance is possessed or used…a serious misdemeanor; possession of a controlled substance…also a serious misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia…a simple misdemeanor.

Goeders and Brown were booked into the Palo Alto county jail.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office and Emmetsburg police were assisted by the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement and the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force.

Jergens says further arrests are expected pending the outcome of their ongoing investigation.
