(Okoboji)– Site work is underway for the city of Okoboji’s new maintenance, police and fire headquarters.
The building will be going up west of Tweeters on Depot Street.
City Administrator Dennis Daly says crews recently started grading the site. He says they hope to get all the sitework done this fall, so actual construction can get underway as soon as the weather allows next spring. Daly says a bidletting on the construction part of the project will be held in January or February.
In addition to being brought up to date on the building project, the Okoboji city council also Tuesday was scheduled to act on a lighting design project involving 11 new street lights on Sanborn Avenue at a cost of 60-thousand to 70-thousand dollars. However a representative of Alliant Energy was unable to attend Tuesday’s meeting, so the issue was deferred to the council’s next meeting.
The council signed off on an application for a thousand dollars in matching funds through the Iowa Living Roadway program for a possible beautification project in the city; and they authorized city staff to work with an engineer in studying a drainage problem in the Hayward’s Bay area.
