(Sioux Valley, Mn.)– A workshop on the Kevin Place farm near Sioux Valley, Minnesota was heavily damaged by fire Friday.
The Lake Park Fire Department was called to the scene at 40961 725th Street shortly before Noon.
Fire Chief Al Detlefsen tells KUOO news the front half of the building was engulfed when firefighters arrived. He says crews first worked to cool down a nearby propane tank and several drums of waste oil. At that point, additional fire crews began arriving and firefighters were able to extinguish the remaining fire.
Heavy damage was reported to the building and its contents, including some hand tools, welders, an all-terrain-vehicle, a snowmobile and other items. A dollar estimate on the damage wasn’t immediatly available.
Detlefsen says it’s believed the fire started in the southwest corner of the building near a wood stove that had been lit that morning.
Firefighters were on the scene about three hours Friday.
The Lake Park Fire Department was assisted by the Lakefield, Round Lake and Okabena, Minnesota fire departments.
No injuries were reported.
