(Branson, Mo.)– A one-vehicle crash in southern Missouri has claimed the life of a woman originally from Milford.
Officials with the Taney, county Missouri Sheriff’s Office tell KUOO news the victim was identified as Megan Leu.
Authorities say Leu may have suffered some type of medical condition that caused her to lose control of the vehicle she was driving on Missouri Highway 165. The vehicle left the road, hit a fence and plunged into an emergency spillway at the Table Rock Dam near Hollister, Missouri. A witness estimated the vehicle vehicle was traveling at about 25 miles-per-hour at the time of the crash.
Divers recovered the body from the vehicle shortly after the mishap, which occurred around 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
Officials say the depth of the spillway ranges from 25 to 40 feet deep.
