(Spencer)– The State Ethics Board has launched an investigation into the practices of three Clay county prosecuting attorneys.
The board has asked the Iowa Supreme Court’s Grievance Commission to look into revoking or suspending law licenses of the attorneys involved.
The Ethics Board hasn’t named the attorneys involved. Court rules make complaints confidential.
Details of the attorney’s alleged transgressions were published as part of the board’s quarterly minutes. It reportedly makes reference to plea deals made with clients.
The Grievance Commission is expected to review the case, which would include hearing defenses from prosecutors, in a private hearing. After that a decision will be made on whether the Supreme Court should recommend any discipline.
