Lakefield, Mn. Man Escapes Injury In Car vs. Bridge Accident

(Jackson, Mn.)– A Lakefield man escaped injury when a car he was driving collided with a bridge Thursday evening.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old Zachary Cother was eastbound on 830th Street in Belmont Township and was approaching a bridge when he swerved to avoid a deer. Cother lost control of the 2001 Chevrolet Impala he was driving and struck a concrete bridge abutment. The right side of the vehicle sideswiped the south side of the bridge, bringing it to a halt.

Cother managed to walk away from the wreck uninjured. Moderate damage was reporte to the vehicle with slight damage to the bridge.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Jackson Fire and Rescue.

The mishap took place around 7:30 p.m.
