(Primghar)– Charges have been filed against a Sheldon man in connection with a sexual abuse incident that occurred in July of this year near Douma Park Campground southwest of Sanborn.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office says 27-year-old Joe Kats was charged with sexual abuse in the third degree as the result of their investigation into the alleged incident in which Kats is accused of performing a sex act on a 14-year-old girl. Authorities say the victim wasn’t injured as a result of the assault.
Kats was arrested early this (Wed.) morning and was booked into the O’Brien county jail where he’s being held on 13-thousand dollars cash bond.
Sexual abuse in the third degree is a class “C” felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and up to a 10-thousand dollar fine.
The Sheldon Police Department assisted the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation.
