(Arnolds Park)– The board of directors of the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum has a vacancy.
Jim Frost announced at Wednesday’s monthly meeting board member Jim Jensen, who represents the city of Arnolds Park, was given a choice of either stepping down from the board or resigning from his position as Captain of the Queen Two. A provision in the organization’s bylaws prohibits any employee of the museum’s operations from serving on the board of directors, siting a potential for a conflict of interest. Frost reported that Jensen opted to resign from the board, so he could continue as Queen Two Captain.
Frost said Jensen will make a recommendation to the Arnolds Park city council as to who should be appointed as his successor on the board.
The board voted unanimously Wednesday to present Jensen with a lifetime membership for the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum’s operations in recognition for his years of service to the board.
