Spencer, Cherokee To Form “Cultural Districts”

November 22, 2014

(Des Moines)– Eight Iowa cities, including two in our area, plan to designate cultural districts as part of a statewide initiative to boost local economies through the arts, history and culture.

Spencer and Cherokee are among the cities planning to establish the districts.

A spokesman with the State Historical Society says the districts will be able to use federal, state and local incentives to promote historic buildings.
