SL Police Issue Reminder Of Snow Removal Ordinance

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– It’s nearly the middle of November. That means it’s just a matter of time before the first snowfall of the season hits us. That has Spirit Lake police reminding the public of the city’s snow removal ordinance.

Officer Rodney Bakker says tickets will be written anytime a snowplow has to go around a vehicle.

Baker adds while the city will continue to issue snow emergencies to get vehicles off streets and alleys in the downtown area, that a snow emergency does NOT have to be in effect in order for tickets to be issued when plows have to be out.

Bakker urges everyone to start parking off the streets now…before the first snowfall of the season.

The violation carries a five dollar fine…the same as a parking ticket.
