Northwest Iowa Guard Members Called Up

(Storm Lake)– Members of a northwest Iowa National Guard Fire Support Element have been mobilized for federal active duty.

The Department of Defense has announced the mobilization of the Fire Support Element of the 1st Battalion, 194th Field Artillery of the Iowa National Guard.

The call-up affects approximately 10 soldiers based at the Fort Dodge and Storm Lake armories. The soldiers will report for active duty in early 2005 and will remain mobilized for 18 months.

The mobilization is part of Operation Iraqi Freedom and the global war on terrorism.
