(Spencer)– An Everly man arrested earlier this month on drunk driving charges is now facing an additional charge of bribery.
Clay county authorities arrested 44-year-old Wesley Thiessen Tuesday night at his home in Everly on a warrant for bribery.
Thiessen is accused of trying to bribe a Clay county deputy during a traffic stop November 13th. Thiessen was found to be driving drunk and with a revoked license. Thiessen allegedly offered money to the deputy in a failed attempt to avoid his third OWI arrest.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office applied for the arrest warrant after consulting with the County Attorney.
Thiessen was arrested and charged with bribery, a class “D” felony.
He’s being held in the Clay county jail on a nearly 10-thousand dollar cash bond.
