(Orleans)– Another annexation battle may be brewing in Dickinson county.
This one could be a three-way riff involving Dickinson county and the cities of Orleans and Spirit Lake.
The city of Orleans plans to annex the Pioneer Beach area on the east and north sides of East Lake Okoboji between the state fish hatchery and Pioneer Beach Resort. A majority of residents in that area have requested they be annexed from the county to the city of Orleans. Spirit Lake unsuccessfully tried to annex the same area several years ago.
The Dickinson county board of supervisors will hold a public hearing on the matter at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 14th.
