One Person Airlifted From Rollover North Of Lake Park

November 22, 2014

(Lake Park)– Authorities now say two people were injured in a semi tractor-trailer rollover Thursday just north of the Iowa/Minnesota border north of Lake Park.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says the driver, 22-year-old Matthew Voog of Austin, Minnesota was northbound when he failed to negotiate a curve. The 1993 International Semi and a 1997 Wilson trailer loaded with nearly 500 head of 40 pound feeder pigs left the road and rolled in a ditch.

Voogd was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake where he was treated and released. A passenger, 32-year-old Jennifer Jewett of New Richland, Minnesota, was airlifted from the scene to McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Extrication equipment had to be used to remove one of the victims from the wreckage.

Extensive damage was reported to the truck and trailer.

The mishap took place around 1:30 p.m. Thursday on Jackson County State Aid Highway Nine north of Lake Park.
