O’Brien Co. Rollover Claims Sutherland Woman; Three Others Injured

November 22, 2014

(Paullina)– A one-vehicle rollover over the weekend in O’Brien county has claimed the life of a Sutherland woman and injured three others.

The victim is identified as 34-year-old Jodi Ellen Munn of Sutherland.

The Iowa State Patrol says Munn was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 40-year-old David Johannsen of Sutherland.

Two other passengers, 23-year-old Erica Wheeler and 33-year-old Gary Tunink, both of Sutherland, along with Johannsen, were taken by ambulance to a Primghar hospital. There was no word on the extent of their injuries.

The State Patrol says Johannsen was northbound on O’Brien County Road B-53 west of County Road M-12 when he lost control. The vehicle entered the east ditch where it rolled several times before coming to rest on its wheels.

Authorities say Munn and Tunink were not wearing seatbelts.

19-thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the vehicle, a 2001 Dodge.

The mishap occurred Saturday.
