(Emmetsburg)– After only nine months of construction, Iowa’s newest ethanol plant is up and running in Palo Alto county near Emmetsburg.
Several hundred people gathered at the plant southeast of Emmetsburg Friday for the grand opening of Broin Company’s Voyager Ethanol plant.
The plant will produce 50 million gallons of ethanol a year and process 17 and-a-half million bushels of corn per year.
The 64 million dollar plant will employ around 40 people. It will officially go on-line early next week.
Voyager Ethanol is the 16th ethanol plant built in Iowa.
