Primghar Man Sentenced On Meth & Firearm Charges

(Sioux City)– An O’Brien county man has been sentenced to 90 months in prison on meth and firearm charges.

35-year-old Joel Laubenthal of Primghar must also serve a 10-year term of supervised release following the prison term.

Laubenthal had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to manufacture 50 grams or more of pure methamphetamine and 500 grams or more of a methamphetamine mixture and possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.

In a plea agreement Laubenthal admitted that between about 1998 and continuing through October 5th 2002 he and others manufactured atleast 50 grams of pure meth, distributed and possessed with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of mixed meth and distributed and possessed marijuana with intent to distribute.
