(Spirit Lake)– While the lack of snow so far this season has been a bust for outdoor enthusiasts, it’s been very welcomed by road maintenance crews.
Dickinson County Engineer Dan Eckert doesn’t have exact numbers yet, but he says the savings so far have been substantial.
He cautions though that what’s been saved so far could be rapidly used up if Mother Nature suddenly decides to start dumping the white stuff.
In addition to saving on the budget, Eckert says the snow-free conditions have allowed crews to do some maintenance they normally wouldn’t be able to do this time of year, like trimming brush and grading gravel roads.
