Spencer Teen Suffers Head Injury In Snowmobile Crash

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A Spencer teen injured Tuesday evening in a snowmobile accident remains hospitalized today (Wed.) in Sioux Falls.

18-year-old Nathan Wise of Spencer sustained a head injury in the mishap. He’s listed in fair condition at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Authorities aren’t sure what time the mishap took place. They learned about it through a phone call from the Emergency Room at Spencer Hospital. A hospital employee reported they had admitted a person who was unresponsive as the result of a snowmobile accident. Police received the call around 11:30 p.m.

Wise was found by two passersby who took him to the hospital. From there he was transferred to Sioux Falls.

Spencer police say the sled struck a utility pole in the vicinity of 10th Avenue East and East Park Street as it was travelling southbound.

The crash remains under investigation.
