Dickinson County Schools To Receive Defibrillators

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Every school in Dickinson county will soon be equipped with a valuable piece of lifesaving equipment.

Steve Hopkins of Lake Park is with the Dickinson County Emergency Medical Services Association. He tells KUOO news the association recently purchased nine defibrillators that will be placed in each school building in the county. Hopkins says they were able to purchase them for 500-dollars each through a matching grant program through Avera/McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Hopkins says they’ve been working closely with the schools on the program for about two and-a-half years now.

The Dickinson County EMSA will train about 60 people from the various Dickinson county schools on how to use the devices this Wednesday evening.
