(Everly)– The execution of an arrest warrant Wednesday night has landed an Everly couple in jail.
Authorities say 32-year-old Dennis Chavez of 101 North Washington Street in Everly was taken into custody at about 8:20 p.m. after the Clay County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Entry Team, in cooperation with the Texas Department of Public Safety, served an active arrest warrant.
Chavez was wanted for a parole violation stemming from his previous incarceration by Texas authorities for narcotics violations. The Entry Team was utilized because the state of Texas considered Chavez to be armed and dangerous based on a prior history of him possessing weapons.
Following the arrest, authorities searched Chavez’s residence and found quantities of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. That resulted in the arrest of his wife, 32-year-old Pray Chavez. She and Dennis Chavez were charged with child endangerment, possession of a controlled substance-marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. They are being held in the Clay county jail on bond of 8,775-dollars each.
The Texas Department of Public Safety has placed a hold on Dennis Chavez, with extradition proceedings to get underway soon.
Clay county authorities say their investigation continues and more arrests are expected.
